The UIC Talent and Expertise Development Platform (TEDP) is launching the 2nd UIC Train Rail Hackathon for 2024-2025! For this edition, the TEDP is collaborating with the UIC World Congress on High-Speed Rail (WCHSR) and the Alliance of Universities for High-Speed Rail (AUHSR).
This international event aims to:
- Foster collaboration between training organisations and industry partners
- Attract new talent to the railway sector
- Develop innovative solutions for the future of rail
What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is a fast-paced event where participants from different backgrounds come together to brainstorm, collaborate, and develop solutions to real-world challenges.
The Train Rail Hackathon is not just a competition – it’s a gathering of creative minds who are passionate about shaping the future of rail transport.
Train Rail Hackathon 2024-2025
General themes: Passenger, freight, rail operation
The exact topic will be given one month before the regional competitions.
Timeline:
- Regional hackathons: November 2024 - the specific dates vary by region. Winners will be shortlisted for the final competition by regional juries.
- Final competition: 8 April 2025, as part of the 7th World Congress on Rail Training (WCRT) – wcrt.uic.org
- Hackathon awards: July 2024, during the 11th UIC World Congress on High-Speed Rail (WCHSR)
Who can participate?
We are looking for passionate individuals affiliated with rail companies, universities, institutes, training organisations, etc., to form teams of 4-5 people.
You can register as an individual or as a pre-formed team, depending on your region’s regulations. We encourage you to network and form a team before registering.
