Call for Participation: 3rd Railway and Open Transport Devroom at FOSDEM 2025

On 1 and 2 February 2025, FOSDEM 2025, Europe’s largest event gathering free and open-source software developers and enthusiasts, will take place in Brussels, Belgium, at the Université libre de Bruxelles .

For the third time in a row, there will be a railway and open transport devroom coordinated by several OpenRail stakeholders. This devroom will be hosted on Sunday afternoon, one of the busiest sessions, attracting a large number of Open Source developers, enthusiasts, railway fans, and active members. There will be a perfect opportunity for the wider community to meet, learn and connect.

The call for presentations is open until 1 December 2024 on the following topics:

  • Dealing with schedules, timetables, and live train and public transport information
  • Simulating network behaviour, traffic, dispatching, and schedules
  • Open approaches to transport interoperability and standards
  • Operating infrastructure and vehicles, open source in a safety-critical environment
  • Information systems for trains, stations, infrastructure, etc.
  • Geo software, mapping, and navigation tools
  • Accessibility assistants for travellers
  • Railway games
  • Research topics, AI applications, augmented reality, and conversational user interfaces
  • Booking, tickets, travel planning
  • …Or any other interesting topic not mentioned above
