The ORION EU-funded project which aims to modernise border operations, including rail borders, is pleased to announce the launch of its website, now accessible to the public. This new platform serves as a central hub for information, updates, and resources related to the project activities, dedicated to next generation, privacy preserving border management.

The website presents the project’s objectives, approach, pilot activities and latest updates, ensuring transparent communication towards target groups such as border authorities, policymakers, transport operators, industry and the wider research community.

Visitors can now explore the full overview of ORION’s ambition to modernise border operations through intelligence‑driven, interoperable and ethically compliant technologies, designed to enhance coordination between border, customs and security controls while improving threat‑detection capabilities and reducing congestion at border crossing points.

To support stakeholders in gaining a quick understanding of the project, the project flyer is also available on the website. It outlines the project’s core pillars, including AI‑based risk assessment, dynamic resource allocation, and strong adherence to European data‑protection standards.

Over the course of its three‑year implementation, ORION will demonstrate its solutions through four pilot activities across Europe, including the railway pilot on seamless identity verification at train stations, co‑organised by the UIC Security Department and Eurostar.
