Alexander Sako has been appointed to the position of Director-General of ŽSR by the Slovak Republic’s Minister of Transport Jozef Ráž, effective from 8 November 2023.

Sako graduated in 2012 from the Danubius University in Sládkovičovo, and in 2016 from the Pan-European University in Bratislava.
So far, Sako has had the following positions and worked for the following companies as:
- A methodologist and subsequently as Chair of the Board of Directors for Slovenská konsolidačná a.s., a company entrusted with the debt recovery of natural and legal persons to the state
- Director of the Commercial and Strategic Section and subsequently as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for Dopravný podnik Bratislava a.s., the Bratislava public transport provider
- Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of SPP Infrastructure a.s., a gas company
- A project engineer for Geoterm Košice a.s., a company dealing with geothermal energy
Sako also speaks English and German.
