The Innovation Workshops organised by the UIC Passenger Services Group cover industry and technological trends and their impact on the rail industry. Each workshop combines pitches by industry experts, interactive sessions and co-creation activities enabled by digital collaboration tools.
The next workshop, “Driving Sustainable Travel Choices by Passengers”, will be held on 11 September 2024 and will discuss how to enhance the effectiveness of rail sales and distribution by positioning environmental sustainability as a key factor which influences customer decisions.
Rail is the most environmentally friendly mode of transport. Encouraging more passengers to choose the train when travelling is imperative for mitigating climate change. But to what extent does sustainability influence travellers’ choices? How can travellers be encouraged to opt for environmentally friendly transport options?
The workshop will share insights from a study, involving over 5000 participants, that investigated how sustainability influences travel choices and what transport providers should do to encourage greener travel habits. An overview on standards, regulations, and best practices on how to effectively communicate different environmental benefits will also be presented. The above will support the debate on how railways can increase passenger awareness of the advantages of rail travel, in order to make eco-conscious decisions easy for travellers and create travel experiences which are consistent with their customers’ social beliefs.
The workshop will take place on 11 September 2024, from 9:00 to 15:30 at the EY Wavespace in Rome, an exclusive working space where interaction and inspiration are enhanced thanks to technological and innovative tools and dedicated rooms.
