As part of its weeklong Sustainability Action Week from 27 Feb - 2 Mar 2023, UIC invites you to participate in its 2nd Zero Waste Railways Workshop which will be held in-person in Paris (at the UIC headquarters) addressing the circularity of outflows on 28 February 2023!
As part of the event, railway sustainability experts, rail supply industry representatives, and experts from the materials recycling and reuse sectors are invited to come and share their best practices and achievements to make rail transport outflows 100% circular.
The workshop will be opened with a keynote speech given by Dr. Leyla Acaroglu, a professional sustainability provocateur and cultural protagonist, who will propose innovative tools and concepts regarding circular outflows and will invite the audience to think outside of the box.
The session on circular best practices will include some exciting presentations from SNCF Réseau and their green rail project, Dutch Railways with its 99% circular trains modernisation policy, and Eurospec presenting new circular specifications for rolling stock. Network Rail will showcase its bespoke digital solution to optimise the use of resources and materials, while the Swiss Federal Railways will talk about circular construction projects. Experts from the supply industry, i.e. Schneider Electric and Alstom, will present their strategies for extending the lifetime of their products.
The workshop will end with an interactive session hosted by Circulab (tbc) where participants will work in small groups to address the impact of a circular business model on its ecosystem.
The outcome of the workshop will be summarised by the visual facilitators of Flatland Agency.
