UIC and its partners within the OpenRail Association (DB, SBB and SNCF) are excited to announce that a devroom “Railways and Open Transport” was selected to be hosted at FOSDEM 2024 for the second time, after this topic had a successful debut in 2023.
The event will take place on 3 and 4 February 2024 on the Free University of Brussels campus (Université Libre de Bruxelles – ULB), Belgium.
The devroom will be jointly organised by Max Mehl, Simon Clavier, Cornelius Schumacher, Loic Hamelin, Peter Keller and Mahalia Stephan. Together, they will explore the field of free and open-source software in the context of railways and public transport.

Presentations must be related to any free and open-source software topic in the context of railways and public transport, such as:
- Dealing with schedules, timetables, live information about trains and public transport
- Simulating network behaviour, traffic, dispatching, and schedules
- Open approaches to transport interoperability and standards
- Operating infrastructure and vehicles, open-source in a safety-critical environment
- Information systems for trains, stations, infrastructure, etc.
- Geo software, mapping, navigation tools
- Accessibility assistants for travellers
