The EU-funded H2020 PROACTIVE project, led by the UIC Security Division, held its 13th consortium meeting on 6-8 September 2022 in Warsaw, Poland. Almost all of the consortium partners were able to attend in-person but those that could not joined the meeting online.
The project team reported on the work completed to date and the progress made over the summer period. As the partners continue to reflect upon the lessons learnt from the first field exercise (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SU84EaA3bQ), the consortium is now in full planning mode for the next field exercise, which will be held in Rieti, Italy on 16 November 2022. This will be the second joint field training exercise between the EU-funded PROACTIVE and eNOTICE projects with the aim of enhancing first responder response capabilities. The exercise will feature a larger railway-based scenario, a multi-agency response, and more civilian volunteers than the previous exercise.
Development of the PROACTIVE Mobile App is also continuing in order to meet the needs and expectations of a broad and diverse population. A revised version of the app will be tested during the next field exercise.
Additionally, material regarding pre-incident information is being updated and revised based on feedback from focus groups in various EU-countries. A new focus group was formed in Poland as part of the progress meeting, with several others being conducted in September and October this year.
The progress meeting also offered a unique opportunity for the project partners to visit the Polish Police History Museum and the Bureau of Antiterrorist Operations (BOA) as well as to meet some of the officers specialising in CBRNe response operations.
Many thanks to the Polish National Police for hosting the meeting and organising these technical visits.
The next progress meeting will take place on 10-12 January 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.
