General context
One of the dimensions of the sustainable strategy is the social dimension in which training, education and workforce development plays an important role. The Talent and Expertise Development Platform is here to accompany and anticipate the transformations that are happening in the railways, as the demands on railway organisations are changing: liberalisation, internationalisation, technical harmonisation with the emerging of new technologies, as well as the demographic challenges.
Strategic objectives
Aimed at establishing a well-trained and motivated workforce for a competitive and innovative rail sector at a global level, the core objective of the Talent and Expertise Development Platform is to support UIC members in:
- Identifying new challenges for talent development and training on an international level,
 - Highlighting research findings in talent development which bring innovation and have practical applications for the industry,
 - Attracting, developing, and retaining railway talent, while promoting gender equality, diversity & inclusivity,
 - Enhancing collaboration among the railway training centres to establish a more in-depth cooperation,
 - Promoting excellence in railway training through best practice models.
